Google uses many different sets of criteria when ranking your site on their search engine platform, one of those being the time it takes your website to load. Effective as of April 21st 2015, Google will be expanding the use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal.
This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact on search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to obtain relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.
This of course will differ depending what industry you are in and whether your competition has already up grade their sites to be mobile friendly. Google now states on search results if your site is mobile friendly and this of course can result in the searcher clicking on to a site that is mobile friendly rather than a site where they have to zoom in and out to see the information.
